Hermione Granger – Harry Potter Minis ⚡️

After Harry and Ron, that you can find in the section “Harry Potter Minis ⚡️”, it is now time for their friend, the “brightest witch of her age”: Hermione Granger ♥️

Materials:

• Domigurumi 50 g (4ply) yarn in black, dark grey, nude, brown, some yellow and red for the embroidery
• 2 mm hook
• yarn needle
• toothpicks to make the magic wand
• fiberfill

I used as always Domigurumi 50g (4 ply) cotton (the best around 🤭) with a 2 mm hook, but you can use whatever you like (or already have)!

Let’s start as usual making the legs, then we will join them and make body and head.

In black

1. 5 sc in a magic ring
2. 5 sc

Change color – WHITE – in the last stitch of the previous round.

3. BLO 5 sc
Change color – NUDE – in the last stitch of the previous round.
4. BLO 5 sc
5. 5 sc
Fasten off and weave in the yarn tail. Using white yarn make 1 slst in the first FLO stitch of round 3, then ch 1 and make 1 sc in the same st. Make 4 more sc around and fasten off weaving in the yarn tail. Repeat the instructions to make the second leg. Leave the nude yarn for now and take the white back. Repeat the instructions to make the edge of the sock and fasten off weaving in the yarn tail. Take back the nude yarn and keep working without fastening off to join the legs and make body and head.
Change color – GREY – in the last st, ch 4 and make 1 sc in one of the st of the first leg (this will be the first sc of the next round!)

1. 5 sc around the first leg, 4 sc in the chain, 5 sc around the second leg, 4 sc on the other side of the chain (18)
2-3. 18 sc
4. BLO 18 sc
5. (4 sc, dec)x3 (15)
6. (3 sc, dec)x3 (12)
7. 12 sc
Change color – NUDE – in the last st of the previous round.
8. BLO 5 sc, 1 sc in round 7 (it’s called Spike Stitch, if you don’t know how to make it you can look up for a tutorial on YouTube), 6 sc (12)
9. inc in all stitches (24)
10. (3 sc, inc)x6 (30)
11-17. 30 sc
18. (3 sc, dec)x6 (24)
19. (2 sc, dim)x6 (18)
20. (sc, dec)x6 (12)
21. Dec x6
Fasten off leaving a long tail. Using the yarn needle weave the tail through the front loops of the remaining stitches and pull it tight to close. Use the tail to embroider the nose between rounds 12 and 13 of the body on the centre of the face. Weave in the yarn tail. Embroider the eyes with black yarn on rounds 13 and 14, 2 stitches apart from the nose.

Keeping the doll upside down make 1 slst with black yarn in the first FLO st of round 4 of the body and work as follows:
1. Ch 2, (dc, dc-inc)x9 (27)
2-3. Ch 1, starting in the same st 27 sc
Fasten off and weave in the yarn tail. Using red and yellow yarn embroider the edge and the neck of the sweater. To make the tie I wrapped the yarn around one of the threads of the spike stitch.

Hair

In brown

1. 6 sc in a magic ring
2. inc in all stitches (12)
3. (sc, inc)x6 (18)
4. (2 sc, inc)x6 (24)
5. (3 sc, inc)x6 (30)
6. 30 sc
7. 9 hdc, 21 sc

Now work in rows, to make the curls you should work one stitch in back post and one in front post. You can find tutorials for these stitches too on Youtube!

1-4. Ch 1, starting in the same st 21 hdc, turn
5. Ch 1, starting in the same st 21 hdc.
Fasten off and weave in the yarn tail. Cut enough brown yarn to sew the hair on Hermione’s head and embroider the eyebrows.

Cloak

In black, we work in rows

Front part (make 2)

1. Ch 3
2. starting from the second ch from hook, 2 sc, ch 1 and turn

3-10. 2 sc, ch 1 and turn (2)

11. 2 sc

Fasten off and repeat the instructions to make two equal parts.

Back part

1. Ch 6
2. starting from second ch from hook make 5 sc, ch 1 and turn
3. 5 sc, ch 1 and turn
4. 2 sc, inc, 2 sc, ch 1 and turn (6)

5-10. 6 sc, ch 1 and turn
11. 6 sc

Sew the front parts to the back part, leaving an opening for the arms of about two rows (if you try the cloak on it’s better). Then make sc all around, making (sc, ch 2, sc) in the lower corners and 2 sc in the neck corners.

To make the hook pull up a loop of black yarn in the first st of the neck and make 12 sc, ch 1 and turn

1. (inc-dc, dc)x6, ch 2 and turn (18)
2. (2 dc, inc-dc)x6, ch 2 and turn (24)
3. (3 dc, inc-dc)x6, ch 2 and turn (30)

4-6. 30 dc, ch 2 and turn 
7. 30 dc

Fasten off and weave the yarn tail on the back of the work. 

Sleeves

Ch 1 in one of the stitches on the opening left for the arm and make a total of 10 sc all around (I made a couple decreases in the corners to avoid leaving holes). Make 1 slst in the first sc and ch 2. Starting in the same st make 10 dc, 1 slst in the first dc and fasten off. Weave in the yarn tail and repeat the instructions to make the second sleeve.

Scarf

In red, work in rows

1. Ch 3
2. starting from second ch from hook, 2 hdc, ch 1 and turn (2)

3-26. 2 hdc, ch 1 and turn

27. 2 hdc.

Fasten off and weave in the yarn tail. If you wish you can embroider some stripes in yellow to reproduce the Griffindor scarf, I didn’t like the texture that came out on the back so I unstitched all and left it all red 🤭

Magic wand

To make the wand I cut a toothpick using pliers, then I inserted it in one of the holes in the hand et voila!

Your Hermione is ready!
